Star Fruit

Carambola or starfruit, is the fruit of Averrhoa carambola, a species of tree native to tropical Southeast Asia. This is a slow-growing, bush-shaped, evergreen tree produces a fruit that, when cut in cross-section, resembles a star, hence its name. This fruit is edible and also used in traditional Asian medicine. Its taste, texture, and shape vary in different regions - some very acidic, others sweet.
