Caimito Star Apple

This tropical evergreen grows quite rapidly and can reach 20 ft in height. It is native to the Greater Antilles and the West Indies and its fruit, the star apple, is a purple-skined globe about 2-3 inches in diameter that is often used as a sweet fresh dessert fruit, served chilled. The name comes from the star pattern visible in its pulp.
