Bread Fruit

This beautiful flowering tree, in the mulberry and jackfruit family, can grow to 85 ft and is native to New Guinea, the Maluku Islands, and the Philippines. Its fruit can be eaten ripe and unripe, roasted, baked, fried or boiled - and the taste is described as similar to potato or freshly baked bread, hence its name.
